Other financial discussions

I remember encountering this problem WHILE I was doing my taxes. I tried umpteen ways to get the box to uncheck. When it wouldn’t, I figured it must have meant that he could be declared by someone else since we’re filing separately, and the form wouldn’t allow me to move forward any other way. I also remember it constantly asking me if I was sure I didn’t want to file jointly and that filing separately was a bad idea if I wanted to save money. It drove me nuts (we’ve been separated for 10 years).

I want to amend my 2018 just to have it be correct in case they use that same info for another stimulus anytime soon. What I’m worried about there is I had a different address then and I wouldn’t be sure which one to put, or if they might then revert my current address back to my old one by accident (since that was my residence at the time and I believe the form is supposed to reflect that).  I dunno. I’m not so much worried about not qualifying for the current stimulus in 2021, but about being denied another that may be issued before I have the opportunity to file in 2021.
