The IRS based the stimulus check based upon information from her 2018 or 2019 tax returns, or social security income.  She was technically eligible for the stimulus payment as she was still alive when it was issued.  

 

As such, if you have Power of Attorney and she was entitled to the check, you would be the only one to determine if you have the power to cash the check or not.  

 

The most up to date information is provided in the link above.  The IRS updates it frequently.  If you are unsure, you can choose to wait to cash it for a few more weeks to ensure they do not say anything about taxpayers who have passed receiving stimulus payments.
