It is unknown exactly when the IRS is analyzing returns to process the stimulus payment for every taxpayer. If the IRS does in fact use your 2018 information to determine your eligibility, you can always receive a credit on your 2020 return (filed in 2021) for the stimulus you didn't receive in 2020 (as long as you otherwise qualify). The stimulus payment is an ADVANCE on a credit on the 2020 return, so it will still be available on your 2020 return if you don't receive it this year.
