If you can not file your tax return due to an error regarding your Qualified Disaster Distribution, continue to run all updates to your TurboTax program as this form was delayed due to IRS finalization.
You can manually update your TurboTax Desktop program by clicking on "Online" in the black bar across the top of your TurboTax screen. Then click on "Check for Updates."
You could also try deleting your Form 8915-F that is associated with your disaster distribution and then making sure that all of your Form 1099-R follow-up questions are properly answered.
To delete a Form 8915-F in TurboTax Desktop, you can:
- Click on "Forms" in the top right of the TurboTax screen.
- In your left panel look for the Form 8915-F that is associated with your Disaster Distribution.
- The form will display in your right panel. Select "Delete Form"
- Click on "Yes" to confirm deletion of the form
Then go back to your 1099-R section and review the follow-up questions and make sure all of the questions are properly answered.
To get back to this section in TurboTax Desktop to check your entries you can:
- Click on Search in the top right of your TurboTax screen
- Type "Form 1099-R" in the search box
- Click on the link "Jump to Form 1099-R"
- Review the follow-up questions for your Form 1099-R
