Tax help for military filers
Go back in your interview and indicate the items I list below. You have to be E1-E9 enlisted military (active duty/reservists.) Excludes National Guard. Plus there are 3 main things you have to indicate to get the military discount. Be sure you have done all 3.
1) In the MY INFO section indicate that you served in the armed forces in 2024 and when you place the checkmark, answer the additional items that expand.
2) Enter a military W-2 from DFAS.
3) As you proceed after you enter the W-2, there is a screen that says "Let's check for uncommon situations" concerning your W-2 and has a long list of things. You must place a checkmark for the item that says "active duty military" even though you answered it in the MY INFO section.
When you go through the filing steps, make sure you are getting the discount (free). Do not pay. If it tries to charge you, we can help you further or tell you how to talk to Support.
