Tax help for military filers

You can deduct the costs of moving your household goods and personal effects (including in-transit or foreign-move storage expenses), and Travel (including lodging but not meals) to your new home.

Unfortunately, pre-move house hunting trips are not deductible.  The IRS has really been cracking down on this one and in it's new publication, specifically outlines that such expenses are not deductible for military members.
