Tax help for military filers

No, the Military Spouse Residency Relief Act (MSRRA) doesn’t apply to you; it applies to nonmilitary spouses of service members. You can choose to either file married filing jointly or married filing separately for your federal return.

Since the MSRRA doesn’t apply in your case you may have to file separate state returns if your state taxes military income. If this is the case, please see the following FAQ:
