Edit the 1099-R in the Federal section...and make sue you've tagged it as a Military Retirement on one of the followup pages. (Picture below)
......and the KS distribution amount should be the same as box 2a (same as box 1?) so that KS knows to remove that $ amount from KS income once the "Military" selection at the top of the same page has been made.
