CSA-1099-R: inconsistency between Step-by-Step and Form entry
2019 TurboTax Deluxe, software up-to-date as of today, March 23.
When I enter my CSA-1099-R particulars using the step-by-step method, two instances of the data show up in odd places in the resulting 1099-R Form. If I instead create a new 1099-R Form directly and enter the same data in the correct lines, the two instances show up oddly in the Step-by-Step review.
In particular, I see a discrepancy in the treatment of line 5 and line 9b items.
I. Starting with step-by-step entry:
-Data entered step-by-step in box 5 (Employee Contributions) shows up on the 1099-R Form in the right hand box of line 5 labelled "(Does not apply)".
-Data entered step-by-step in box 9a (Total Employee Contributions) shows up on the 1099-R Form in the left-hand box of line 5 labelled "Employee Contributns".
-On the 1099-R Form, line 9b "Total employee contributions" is empty.
II. Starting with 1099-R Form entry:
-Data entered in line 5 "Employee Contributns" in the 1099-R shows up in the step-by-step review in box 9b "Total employee contributions".
-Data entered in line 9b "Total employee contributions" does not show up in the step-by-step review.
-Box 5 "Employee Contributions" in the step-by-step review is empty.
The taxes computed by TurboTax are the same with either entry method. Will this discrepancy matter if I'm using electronic submission of my federal and state tax returns.
