Retirement tax questions
This is a confusing question because a W2 normally will report 401K contributions but not distributions. 401K distributions are reported on a 1099R. Usually when you request an import from a brokerage, they will report dividends, interest, capital gains, and any distributions from retirement plans typically on a 1099R. They do not transfer anything other than taxable income from dividends, interest, capital gains, and retirement plan distributions.
