Traditional 401k/Roth contribution for spouse who is not enrolled in 401k plan from work
Married/Filing Jointly - AGI $122,000. Spouse does not have 401k plan through work and made $24,000 for 2019 on his W2. I have a 401k plan from my employer and contributed $15,000.
I put $6000 for my spouse and myself towards ROTH-IRA for 2019.
1) How much can I contribute to Traditional 401k for the spouse given his income of $24,000 after $6,000 ROTH contribution?
2) I know I am still short of $3,400 on my employer 401k to reach the goal of $19,000. Can I still contribute the $3,400 towards a Traditional 401k or not? I did contribute $6000 to ROTH IRA also for 2019.
I am getting mixed answers and stuck filing my tax return. Your input will be appreciated.
