Retirement tax questions

  1. Login to your TurboTax Account and continue your return.
  2. Select Federal on the left.
  3. Under Income & Expenses, there will be Job (W-2), Click Show more
  4. Click Revisit.
  5. You will get to a screen that says Here's Your W-2 info, find the W-2 that is causing the problem, click Edit on the right.
  6. Scroll down to box 15. If your paper copy doesn't have any numbers in boxes 16 and 17, leave boxes 15, 16 and 17 blank.
  7. If you have amounts in boxes 16 and 17, then box 15 should have your state abbreviation and the state tax ID number. If your paper copy of your W-2 has a 0 in the second part of the box, try leaving it blank instead. If you can't move forward with it blank, you can ask your employer to give you the correct state tax ID number.
