Retirement tax questions

Look at your other entries on the 1099-R.  If you have amounts listed in box 5 or box 10 you will be required to enter a date in box 11.  If your paper 1099-R does not have amounts in these boxes make sure you do not have amounts entered into TurboTax.  This includes entering a "0" (zero).  A zero is considered an amount by TurboTax and will trigger the requirement for an entry in box 11.

If you do have amounts correctly reported in box 5 or box 10 of your paper 1099-R and the issuer left box 11 blank, please contact the issuer to request a corrected 1099-R.
