Retirement tax questions
This is income that needs to be shown on the return, and the reason for two of them is your mother may have had two different account or one may be a Traditional IRA and one maybe a Roth.
A Roth will show as not being taxable income to you.
Enter each as follows and answer the questions that pertain only to that one 1099R. After that one is in, then go to the next one and carefully answer the questions.
To enter pension and annuity Payments (1099-R)
- Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
- Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
- Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
- Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
- On IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R), click the start or update button
