Retirement tax questions

A divorce settlement is not tax deductible for you and you do not report it on your tax return.

Receiving half of your 401(k) in the divorce settlement is not a taxable event for your ex-wife. She ex-wife only has to report and pay tax on any withdrawals she makes from the 401(k).
