Here's how to enter your 1099-Q in
TurboTax (if using the mobile app, tap here for alternate instructions)

Sign in to TurboTax (if you're not
already signed in
- Click on
the Take me to my Return button
- Select
the Federal Taxes tab (on
left)
- Select
the Deductions & Credits tab (on top)
- Select Education (Show More), and then ESA and 529
qualified tuition programs (Form 1099-Q)
- You'll
answer a few questions.
- You may
see ”qualified tuition program (QTP),” which is another name for a 529
plan. This is the plan associated with 1099-Q.
- Follow the
screens to enter the information from your 1099-Q. If you land on the Form
1099-Q Summary screen: Select Add a 1099-Q to get started. (See image below)
