Retirement tax questions
The directions for filing a paper Oregon Form 40 stipulate that 1099's including Oregon income and withholding must be filed. However they are vague regarding whether BOTH must be present. I have at least a dozen 1099's, and copying and mailing all of them is cumbersome.
Because of this confusion, I decided to e-file the return instead of mailing it. When I selected the e-file option on oregonfillableforms, a request for the required 1099's shows up. If you have Oregon withholding on a 1099 you must submit a copy. If there is no withholding you don't have to.
The answers I've gotten to this question have been all over the map. A phone call to Oregon DOR produced no answer at all. A phone call to Turbotax help resulted in a recommendation to send all of them.
