Retirement tax questions
I received a single Pension Distribution during the year of 2018 and during that same year I moved from Texas to Kansas. I received two 1099-R's that are exactly the same except for boxes 13 and 14. In the first 1099 box 13 shows TX and 0 dollars in 14 the second 1099-R shows KS in 13 and the Gross Distribution dollars amount in box 14. Since Tx has no state income tax I intend to report only the KS 1099-R since that was my address of record as of 12/31/18. Neither 1099-R was checked as "corrected" and there was no state or federal withholding. Do you agree this is the best thing to do to avoid possible confusion and/or double reporting of the single distribution?
