Retirement tax questions
If you took a distribution of money from your Health Savings Account (HSA), then you should receive a Form 1099-SA reporting that distribution.
Form 1099-SA is then entered into your tax return where you will indicate whether the funds were used to pay medical expenses. If you took a distribution and did not receive the form, you should contact your HSA administrator.
Use these steps to go to the section of your return to enter information from Form 1099-SA:
On the top row of the TurboTax online screen, click on Search (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax locate the search box in the upper right corner)
This opens a box where you can type in “1099-SA” (be sure to enter exactly as shown here) and click the magnifying glass (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find)
The search results will give you an option to “Jump to 1099-SA”
Click on the blue “Jump to 1099-SA” link
