Retirement tax questions
If you contributed to your 401(k) at work, you will not receive a form 1099-R.
Your 401(k) contributions are already deducted from taxable wages reported in box 1 of your form W-2 and are reported in box 12 of form W-2. You do not need to enter anything else on your tax return for your 401(k) contributions.
