Retirement tax questions
Reemployment Trade Adjustment Assistance (RTAA) Workers in firms with a significant number of workers who are at least age 50, without easily transferable skills, may choose to receive a wage subsidy which is a payment of 50 percent of the difference between pre-layoff wages and their reemployment wages. The state must send you Form 1099-G to advise you of the amount you should include in income. The amount should be reported on Form 1040, line 21.
To enter RTAA payments on a 1099-G:
- Open your return (or continue if open).
- Click on “Take me to my return” if applicable.
- Type “1099-g, government payments” in Search box (upper right-hand corner of the screen)
- Click on “Jump to 1099-g, government payments” link.
- Answer screen interview prompts.
