Retirement tax questions
Are you at a screen "Let's get your tax info" and referring to the institution search line you first encounter? If you are using Online TurboTax, your screens may look a little different from the ones above, but the principal is the same, however.
You are likely getting a screen with a lot of logos and a search line to look up a financial institution. The search line may say "bank" but it means "financial institution" in general. But that is only if you wish to import the 1099-R. To skip importing you can ignore that search line or the logos, and scroll down on the same screen and at the lower right there is a gray button "I'll type it in my self." You may not see that gray button unless you scroll way down.
Once you click the gray button, then on the next screen it will say "Tell us which 1099-R you have." Indicate the typr of 1099-R, then on the next screen you can enter your financial institution's name (Payer) and the rest of the 1099-R data.
