The 1099R on Turbo tax has only options for 401k IRA withdrawls, RR pensions and civil service pensions but there is no place for military retired pay and this is different because the state of Iowa doesn't tax military retired pay, the others mentioned above are taxed by the state. So clearly there is a different way to calculate this from the other 1099R's. As for getting the 1099R information I got it from the mypay site and don't have to wait until the end of January.
