Ignore the worksheet on the back of the SSA-1099. Most people who fill that out get it wrong and end up with the wrong answer.
All you have to do is enter the amount from Box 5 into Turbotax and turbotax calculates the taxable amount, if any, and the turbotax calculation is absolutely accurate.
