Retirement tax questions
Whether your public pension is taxable in Michigan depends on your age:
- Not taxable if born before 1946
- Limited subtraction of $20,000 ($40,000 for joint filers) if born 1946 through 1952
- Not eligible for subtraction if born after 1952
