The excess Social Security withholding which resulted from changing jobs during the year will show up on line 71 of your Form 1040. I did this but how do i get refunded?
The excess Social Security withholding which resulted from changing jobs during the year will show up on line 71 of your Form 1040. To check to see if it is being properly reflected on your tax return do the following:
- Click on My Account
- From the drop down menu click on Tools
- Under Other helpful links... click on View Tax Summary
- Click on Preview my 1040 which appears above the Tax Summary
- Scroll down in Form 1040 to line 71
I have looked at line 71 and im owed 5k or so. I got my refund back and it was only my normal stuff and did not include this. Not sure where to go from here.
