Is there a way to correct the problem that I was taxed for the wrong state on my 1099r form?
I moved from Alabama to Gerogia in 2016, but I took one distribution from my IRA account in 2017 without changing the withholding form, my mistake. Now, the 1099-R shows the state tax withheld for Alabama and also the total state distribution for that line item. Do I file a non-resident return for Alabama and claim, correctly, no Alabama state income? And how can I correctly claim the state distribution is actually Georgia income so it is taxed in Georgia?
