Why does the amount shown on Form 1040 line 4a differ from the information on the screen labeled Retirement Income Results?
When I look at Line 4a (IRA's, Pensions, and Annuities) of the Form 1040 it has $44,815. This is only the amount of Traditional and Roth IRA distributions showing on the Turbo Tax screen labeled Retirement Income Results.
On the screen labeled Retirement Income Results, I have two lines. The first is the information above. The second line is labeled Pension and annuity distributions. That amount is $20,314.
The total for the two shows as $65,129. This is the amount that I would think should show on Line 4a of the Form 1040
Then there is a Taxable column which takes the two taxable amount from the two sources and totals $62,463. This shows accurately on the Form 1040, line 4b.
