Retirement tax questions

If you are a W2 employee, your retirement plan contribution is built into your W2. If its deductible, your box 1 wages will already reflect that. You cannot add employer-based retirement plan contributions on your tax return. Just type in your W2 exactly as it appears.

If you contributed to an IRA with Fidelity, enter that here:

  • Federal Taxes- Deductions and Credits
  • Retirement and Investments
  • Traditional and Roth IRA Contributions
  • Enter the $3000 as Traditional or Roth, whichever is correct.
