That means that there's no cost basis for those transactions on the Form 1099-B that you received that also goes to the IRS, so you have to enter your cost basis manually for those transactions. To enter your cost basis:

 

  1. Select Federal Taxes
  2. Select Wages & Income
  3. Select Edit next to the 1099-B from Fidelity
  4. Follow the prompts to enter the original cost (and any cost basis adjustments) of the securities you sold listed under section E.
