Form 8606 explanation showing recharacterization
I completed a backdoor Roth IRA and am trying to report it accurately on my taxes. I followed all of the steps according to this page https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/retirement-benefits/enter-backdoor-roth-... and checked that 1040 line 4a correctly has the contribution amount and line 4b has only the earnings amount between traditional IRA contribution and conversion to Roth IRA. In forms mode, I noticed that form 8606 generates an explanation form that reads Explanation of: "recharacaterization explanation". However, I believe that this is incorrect because a backdoor Roth IRA conversion is a conversion not a recharacterization. How to I remove the "recharacterization" language? This is not an editable field. I can freetext underneath to add that this is a conversion not a recharacterization.
Thank you!!
