Retirement tax questions
The maximum contribution to all IRAs is $7000, or $8000 if you are over age 55. If you contribute to a workplace plan, such as a Roth account in a 401k, that is NOT an IRA. Workplace plans and IRAs are covered by different laws and some of the rules are different. Contributions to workplace plans are included on your W-2 and are NOT entered separately. Only enter actual contributions to a Roth IRA, if you have one.
