Retirement tax questions

The RMD section will not apply to a pension.

You should have a 1099-R so you can post the pension.

  5. Do Not check IRA/SIMPLE/SEP box is checked
  6. Is the IRA/SEP/SIMPLE box on this 1099-R checked? [No]
  7. Where is your distribution from?  None of the above
  8. What kind of retirement plan do you have?   Qualified plan
  9. Do any of these situations apply to you?  None of these apply
  10. Tell us if you moved the money through a rollover or conversion   I didn't roll over or convert this money
  11. Annuity information
    1. Did you get periodic payments from this retirement account with 77 back on a regular basis, such as monthly, quarterly or annually?  [Yes]
  12. Finish the Annuity questions

A pension plan will not have an RMD,  When you pass away, the pension ends.

  • A 401-K or IRA may still have money in it.
  • The IRS wants their cut, thus RMDs
