Retirement tax questions

I think you are entering it in the wrong area.  The rollover is on a 1099R and does not go in the contribution  area (as it is not a contribution).

So first take the rollover to a Roth out of the IRA contribution area.

Then enter the 1099R as a rollover.  There is no limit.  This link may be helpful.

To enter the rollover in TurboTax, go to:

To enter pension and annuity Payments (1099-R)

  • Click on Federal Taxes
  • Click on Wages and Income
  • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
  • Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
  • On IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R), click the start or update button
  • Enter this and then answer the questions it was rolled to a Roth IRA.
