Given your repeated attempts to contact the Social Security Administration requesting an amended SSA-1099, there are still several other options that may help you get a corrected form.
- You can write a detailed request to the Social Security Administration, detailing the error and providing sufficient evidence of the correction necessary.
- If that does not get you the corrected form, you can file a formal "Request for Correction of Information" under Section 515 through their website or by mail. For more information on Section 515, click here. See the screenshot below for additional information.
At this time, I do agree that you should file your return based on the forms you have currently and amend your return once you have the corrected forms from SSA. I do not suggest completing your return as if you have received the corrected form and risk the chance of an audit.
