Retirement tax questions
Gosh, I never thought of using the "do you want to amend your tax return" button to amend a return???
I did the amendment and still had to delete the 1099-r and download it again. Is this something typical of TT help? People restating the obvious and ignoring the fact that the problem was not fixed. If it was fixed, it would have been changed as part of the fix or identified when the return information was reviewed. I consider this sloppy development.
So to restate the obvious, when you "fix" a problem make sure you fix all the threads and all the places where it impacts a client's tax return. Don't just fix it for subsequent uploads or entries of 1099-R forms. If the software caused a problem, then the "fix" should solve the problem, not be just a simple patch. By the way, I found out about this by reading in the forum where this same issue has happened in the past with TT, so please make sure that all "fixes" are installed in the subsequent releases of the software, which evidently didn't happen hee and so someone had to "fix" the "fix" again.
Very, very disappointing and TT should be ashamed to put out defective code like this, over and over again. So, next year, when you enter your 1099's please make sure to see if they did this update again and then delete them and re-enter the information because TT will not check for this error...
