The excess of your housing allowance should be added on Sch 1. Follow these steps (vary by the program) to enter the income:
- go to the federal income section
- scroll to the bottom or select show uncommon income or show more income
- Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C, Start
- Scroll to the bottom
- Other reportable income, Start
- Other taxable income?
- Select YES
- Description - something like excess housing allowance
- Amount, enter your amount
- Continue
