Retirement tax questions

What is the nature of the teacher retirement that you are reporting?

Did you receive an IRS form 1099-R that reported a pension distribution?  Or something else?

Do you expect your teacher retirement to not be taxed by the IRS?  Or not taxed by a state?  Or both?  Which state?  Please clarify.

In TurboTax Online, report an IRS form 1099-R as follows:

  1. Down the left side of the screen, click on Federal.
  2. Down the left side of the screen, click on Wages & income.
  3. Click the down arrow to the right of Retirement Plans Social Security.
  4. Click to the right of IRA 401K Pension Plan Withdrawals.
  5. Select Add another 1099-R.
  6. At the screen Let's import your tax info, select Change how I enter the form.
  7. At the screen How would you like to upload your 1099-R, select Type it in myself.
  8. At the screen Who gave you a 1099-R, select the correct distribution.  Select Continue.
  9. Continue through the entry screens.
