Retirement tax questions

Thanks for the response AmyC. I entered the information as pensions and then clicked the button for substitute Form 1099-R. The program has changed from previous years as this question is in a different place. everything seemed to work as usual except the running tax owed number looked wrong. When running the review the program said there were some items to check and it presented the schedule 1 line item for Other Income. There were two lines - Pension A and Pension B, but the total of both was listed for Pension A. Pension B was blank and the program wanted a number! I could not edit A but added B thinking I could then correct A. Wrong move! Now Pension B was in there 3 times. I went back and deleted the pensions.  I also went to Misc income and entered NO to the question "did I have any Misc Income" (maybe I should have said yes and deleted the items) but it did not change schedule 1 .One other thing I did differently was to click the button to print the Form 4852 for both Pensions. TT gives the option if not e-filing.  I actually have 3 UK pensions and I did not print form 4852 for the third one and had no problems with it.

Sorry to say I wanted to file ASAP so I redid the whole thing by hand and filed by mail yesterday.

On another note the TIN is always an issue with the 1099-R. It would seem to be such an easy fix to not require a TIN if one is completing a substitute form.
