Yes. To take advantage of the Maryland Hometown Heros Act income exclusion, you must include Form 502SU, Subtractions From Income, when completing your Maryland tax return. This form will be available in TurboTax on January 26, 2018.

Ok, its is 2024 and from reading. I understand the the age limit with change by Previous Govenor Hogan. The limit was reduce please verify.. that and it is not in your soft wear if under age 55. It should be the law was supposebly changed.

Yes, according to this, the age has been lowered to 55. It is built into Turbo Tax but disguised. Assuming your former employment was that as a law enforcement officer or fire, rescue, or emergency services personnel of the United States, the State, or a local jurisdiction.
Here is how to access it.
- Go to the state taxes tab
- As you proceed through the interview, there will be a screen that will appear that says Here is the Income Maryland Handles Differently.
- From here go to Retirement
- Then go to Retired, Correctional, Law Enforcement, Fire, Rescue employees. See the screenshot below.
