If the distribution from the Roth 401(k) would be treated as a nonqualified distribution if not rolled over, your basis in the Roth 401(k) becomes contribution basis in your Roth IRA when rolled over to the Roth IRA. If the distribution would be treated as a qualified distribution if not rolled over, the entire amount rolled over becomes contribution basis in your Roth IRA.
