Retirement tax questions
Annette,
Continuing this discussion, I also noticed that the SAME issues occurred in my 2022 & 2023 Deluxe TTax programs (I didn't check back further). For whatever reasons, the same questions are NOT being asked when a Spouse's 1099-R info/data is being entered. Why NOT? There shouldn't be any difference in the sequence or type of questions that were being asked of the Primary Taxpayer, especially when the 1099-Rs are from the same source/employer and the Fed ID #s are the same.
Obviously, there is a problem in the TTax programming, and hopefully not a prejudice against spouses (assuming a female when the Primary is male?), or whatever. I am not a programmer but I don't see any logic or IRS based reasoning for NOT asking the same questions. This also means that TTax should NOT be advertising that the Tax Returns prepared are 'Guaranteed to be 100% accurate' ... because they are NOT in terms of data entered and data on the various forms!
Thanks again for your time,
Chuck
