You can enter California withholding from IRA distributions for both Vanguard and Fidelity on separate 1099-R forms in TurboTax. Here’s how to do it:
Steps to Enter Vanguard 1099-R in TurboTax
- Sign into TurboTax
- Select Income
- Then click this link 1099-R.
- Enter Vanguard Information:
- Enter the gross distribution amount.
- Enter the California withholding amount ($349).
- Verify Box 16 (state distribution). If Box 16 is blank, use the amount from Box 1 (gross distribution).
- On the next screen - "Your 1099-R Entries" screen, click + Add Another 1099-R.
- Enter Fidelity Information:
- Enter the gross distribution amount.
- Enter the California withholding amount ($80).
- Verify Box 16 (state distribution). If Box 16 is blank, use the amount from Box 1 (gross distribution.
TurboTax will complete the needed form for both 1099Rs and help you file your taxes.
