Retirement tax questions

The loop may occur due to incomplete RMD details, inconsistent responses, or conflicting entries on related forms. For example, the RMD question may not be fully addressed, or the Distribution Code in Box 7 may not align with the distribution type.

Steps to Resolve the Issue:

  1. Sign out of TurboTax: Ensure you sign out completely from your TurboTax account.
  2. Clear Browser Cookies and Cache: Go to your browser settings. Find the option to clear cookies and cache (usually under Privacy or History settings).
  3. Log Back Into TurboTax: Reopen TurboTax and log back into your account.
  4. Delete and Re-enter the 1099-R: Go to the Wages & Income section, delete the entry, and manually re-enter it, ensuring all fields are accurate.
  5. Review Related Forms: Use Tax Tools > Tools > Delete a Form to check for duplicates or incomplete forms, such as Form 5329.
  6. Ensure RMD Questions Are Fully Answered: Double-check whether the distribution was fully or partially an RMD and enter exact amounts as needed.
