Retirement tax questions
The annuity company interpreted my financial advisor's request for total liquidation of the annuity as a 1035 rollover when in fact, it was simply a total distribution of funds. Therefore the 1099r stated that I had no tax liability (I wish). Neither company admits they did anything incorrectly. I requested a corrected 1099r from the annuity company, but they refuse. I have been in contact with the IRS. They sent the annuity company a request for an amended 1099r, but they have not issued one. I had already filed my taxes, so I need to file an amended return and add IRS Form 4852. I realize I will have to send this in rather than file the amended return electronically since TT doesn't support Form 4852, but I would like to do it through TT and print it out to send it in. But I don't know how to do it other than putting in the correct figures in the 1099r information and checking the corrected box.
