Retirement tax questions
Yes, it sounds like you have more than one 1099-G worksheet showing the same income. Here's how to fix that:
- Sign in to TurboTax.
- Select Deductions & Credits.
- In the left-side menu, select Tax Tools, then Tools.
- Select Delete a form, from the list in the pop-up window.
- Check the list for Form 1099-G (Untitled). Since you have a 1099-G for unemployment, you probably also have one that looks something like Form 1099-G (State of Florida Department of Labor & Workplace Development).
- Delete the untitled one, or if they both look the same, delete the first one by selecting Delete next to the form.
- Confirm your Delete, select Continue, then Continue with my return.
Now check your return to see if this got rid of the problem. You can preview it:
- Select Tax Tools from the left-side menu, then Tools.
- Select View Tax Summary in the pop-up box.
- Select Preview my 1040 from the left-side menu.
- You will see the Form 1040 with Schedules 1, 2 and 3.
- When you are done, select Back from the left-side menu.
If this didn't get rid of the incorrect entry, go back to step 3 in the first set of instructions and delete the other 1099-G.
Next, you will need to enter the unemployment again:
- Select Wages & Income.
- Select Edit/ Add to the right of Unemployment / paid family leave (1099-G).
- Enter your 1099-G in this section.
Once this is done, select Review to make sure this issue is gone.
