Page 9 of Md instructions say the capital gains should be subtracted on line ab. You can do that in the forms mode like this:

1. Switch over to forms mode
2. Locate form 502SU
3. Locate line ab
4. Right above line ab is a smart worksheet where numbers can be entered.
5. Type directly into the capital gains from sale of US government obligations
6. The number will carry to line ab
