Retirement tax questions
The movement that you did of one traditional IRA to another was done by trustee-to-trustee transfer. Such a trustee-to-trustee transfer of an IRA is neither a distribution nor a rollover, so it is not reportable. On the other hand, movement of a 401(k) to an IRA can only be done by distribution and rollover, so movement of a 401(k) to an IRA always must be reported.
