The problem isn't the number, it's that the IRS will notice that you did not file a 1099-R. At the least, you would get a letter from the IRS with a recalculated tax invoice, with interest added on.

 

I assume that you have already filed, and that your return was accepted?

 

If so, you will need to amend your return with form 1040X. The 1040X is not scheduled to be ready until 2/14/24. HOWEVER, these date can and do change, therefore you should watch the Forms Availability Page here.
