@stilllearningtaxes no you don't have to make up the RMDs that would have been required in the prior 3 years.

 

however, just on the math it could make the 2024 RMD and subsequent RMDs higher than they otherwise would have been.... and you only have 7 years left to distribute the whole thing. 

 

even though you don't have to do a distribution in 2023, depending on your tax situation and your income, you may want to.   Remember is is a MINIMUM distribution and not a MAXIMUM distribution.  What you don't want to do is continue to defer the day of reckoning and push yourself into a higher tax bracket
